Data regions

idea_builder runs as a sovereign data product: your account data is stored in the region you choose, is not transferred between regions for storage, and is processed there.

In a sovereign data setup, your data lives where you choose, under the laws of that region, instead of being centralized in one country. idea_builder applies this to the region where your account’s data is stored and processed:

  • You pick your data region when you create your account.
  • Your data is stored in that region and is not transferred between regions for storage.
  • Each region is a separate account with its own data, login, and billing.
Region Where your data is stored
Canada OVH, Beauharnois, Québec
United States OVH US, Vint Hill, Virginia
China (Asia/CN) Tencent Cloud Lighthouse — a separate stack; not part of the sovereign claim for users outside China
  • At signup — you choose your data region while creating your account.
  • Region selector — you can change your region at any time from the app.
  • Geo-IP is only a default — we pre-select a region based on your location, but you decide where your data lives.
  • Sticky preference — your choice is remembered on your device, so you stay in your region across visits.
  • Unsupported regions — if your region is unsupported or we can’t determine your location, we default to Canada.

Each region is a separate account. If you want to use a different region, you create a separate account there — data, login, and billing are kept separate by design.

Payments are handled per region. Each region has its own Stripe integration, so your payments are processed in-region.

Being sovereign doesn’t mean nothing ever leaves your region. We’re transparent about the processing that still crosses borders:

  • AI providers — DeepSeek and ASI One process the prompts you submit for AI analysis.
  • Brevo — processes transactional email (verification, password reset, notifications).
  • Per-region Stripe — processes payments; each region’s payments are handled in-region.
  • Cloudflare — proxies traffic at the edge (CDN, WAF, DNS); content may be cached at edge locations around the world.
